As with all bladderworts (Utricularia), the carnivorous activity occurs beneath the soil surface. Little bladder-like structures along the plant's roots capture teeny-tiny soil critters, such as nematodes. While this might not be terribly exciting for most first-time growers, many growers have come to appreciate bladderworts for their beautiful flowers.

This species has small yellow flowers. For continuous flowers throughout the year, provide warm nights (70°-75°F).

Natural Habitat:
South Africa
Type of Plant:
True tropical perennial. Protect from frost.

The roots are carnivorous!

Plants are shipped in 3-inch pots. Flowers may or may not be present at the time of shipping.

Watch watch this month's video podcast for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year and important growing tips.

I am a long time customer of Sarracenia, and like all of their plants, this one arrived in great condition. I can't wait to see it flower.
