Scarlet Belle is a cultivated variety of a simple hybrid, Sarracenia leucophylla x psittacina. It develops beautiful red pitchers speckled with white spots. Whenever people see this plant in person, they usually exclaim, "They look like they're from outer space!" If you want a really unusual plant for your garden, give this one a try. Look for it's best pitchers of the season in late summer and early fall.

Type of Plant: Outdoor perennial for container growing.
Height: Up to 8 inches.
Sunlight: Full sun during the growing season.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite only.
Winter: Dormant. Minimal protection in USDA zones 7-9. Mulch in colder regions.

Plants are grown outdoors at our nursery in Oregon.

January-March: Plant is dormant with no pitchers.
April: Spring growth will appear by the end of the month.
May: Fully developed pitchers typically appear by the end of the month.
June-August: Full display of pitchers.
September: Plant is slowing down but produces its best pitchers of the season.
October: Dormancy begins. Fewer pitchers. No new growth until spring.
November-December: Plant is dormant. Browned pitchers are cut off.

    There appear to be tiny thread-size structures (3) & the tiny grasses (?) that grow around it are getting taller!

    Slow grower in the area I'm at. But this plant loves the bright sun and is very durable to low humity at times. Arrived in great condition and amazing packaging as well!

    Never grown one before but it arrived with many many small pitchers in great shape. It is doing great under a 65w grow plant bulb with 4 other venues fly traps.

    I am very happy with my purchase from you. I was somewhat hesitant to plant the new sarracenia in late December, but to my delight, the plants indeed survive the frost, and look great...can't wait to see how they perform in our summer weather/heat.
