S. leucophylla has a ruffled hood beautifully patterned with red veins against a brilliant white complexion, giving way to red and green further down the trap. The cultivar 'Tarnok' is unique among Sarracenia, bearing fantastic double-petaled flowers with whorls of overlapping sepals - like little red pinecones! Native to the narrow coastal regions of Alabama, 'Tarnok' is especially cold-hardy at our nursery in Oregon, unfazed by winter freezes. It is a fast and robust grower, forming dense masses of growth points which make for a breathtaking display. Unlike other forms of S. leucophylla that produce pitchers only in late summer, Tarnok will produce pitchers from mid spring to early fall. This plant was registered with the International Carnivorous Plant Society in 1993.

2nd Season Divisions
After dividing our mother plants in spring, we grow the divisions for a year before releasing them. You get a more vigorous plant with a healthier root system when compared to a recent division.

All outdoor perennials experience seasonal changes at our nursery in Oregon.
January-March: Plant is dormant with no pitchers.
April: Spring growth will appear by the end of the month.
May: Fully developed pitchers will gradually appear.
June-August: Full display of pitchers.
September: Plant produces its best pitchers of the season.
October: Dormancy begins. Fewer pitchers. No new growth until spring.
November-December: Plant is dormant. Browned pitchers are cut off.

I received 2 undivided plants with 6 pitchers in one pot that were shipped in perfect condition. after making a mid season re-pot, according to your directions on DVD, I noticed 5 mew pitchers had sprouted within a week. Planning to divide in early spring and hoping to get some double pleated flowers. I am very happy with my purchase and will be buying from you guys again.

    Great Plant, But one Problem

Posted by Damico Martin on June 1, 2015

The package arrived just fine and there was a slight kink in a new growing part of the plant but that didn't really matter to me. I love my Sarracenia Tarnok, but an issue I had noticed was that the flower of the plant was pruned and Sarracenias just don't grow back broken or cut limbs. So I am upset that I do not have the beautiful double-petaled flower yet. I have have 2 nearly matured pitchers and many more are forming, Due to my own negligence, I only have one mature picture with many still growing. I'm otherwise very happy with my plant and I treat it like it's my baby. Thanks for the plant. I plan on ordering a sundew and flytrap soon.

    Robust!

Posted by Katherine Sese on May 18, 2014

At first I wasn't sure about what this one will look like, but both sarracenias I received grew fast and robust. Compared to another distributor who sells and ships them as they looked on the website, your plants grew faster, and are stronger as well as more mature and healthy than the ones from the other nursery! I love my plants from you guys!!
