All pots come with the right amount of soil to fill each pot.

You get approximately 1/2 gallon of soil mix and a set of plastic pots with drain holes. All soil mixes are guaranteed to be free of fertilizers and contaminants. Soil is shipped dried. Moisten thoroughly before using.

  • 3-inch pots (6 total)
  • 4-inch pots (3 total) 
  • 6-inch pot (1 total)
  • Hanging pot (1 total)


Regular Soil Mix (Peat Moss and Perlite)

  • 50/50: 50% peat moss and 50% perlite, our standard mix for many plants and pot sizes.
  • 40/60: 40% peat moss and 60% perlite, a good mix for small pots and young plants.  Also a good mix for regulating soil temperature in desert climates.
    If in doubt, select 50/50.
  • Dionaea: Venus Flytraps
  • Drosera: Sundews
  • Sarracenia: North American Pitcher
  • Utricularia: Bladderwort


Tropical Pitcher Plant Mix (Dried Sphagnum Moss and Perlite)

  • 50% dried sphagnum and 50% medium grade perlite.
  • Brocchinia: Bromeliad
  • Cephalotus: Australian Pitcher
  • Heliamphora: Sun Pitcher
  • Nepenthes: SE Asian Pitcher

    Pretty happy with the nepenthes i got. I got 2 for the price of one. I only bought one hanging pot and soil so one of the plants was repotted and the other wasnt. The one that was repotted is in what i call a hard shock. All pitchers has dried and shriveled up; however the one that did not get repotted still has a pitcher and doing well with a new leaf already. The one in “hard shock” has a new leaf getting ready to open so there is new growth so im not too concerned with it. Overall pretty happy with them. Ill be even happier once i see some new pitchers.

    I had looked everywhere at my local stores for a hanging pot suitable for my pitcher plant, but could not find one like I wanted, so what better place to visit than Sarracenia Northwest? I enjoy the fact that the pot came with enough soil to transplant my plant, so I didn't have to buy that separately. I did, however order another bag, just to be sure I had enough to put my plant into a larger pot. I rated 4 stars, only because I believe that for every business, there is always room for improvement, but this company is fantastic. Their customer service is top-notch. With every plant order, they include very detailed instructions on how to care for the plant, but if anyone has any further questions, the Growers are always more than happy to help. Their packaging with their plants are top-notch and have always arrived healthy and thriving!

    Repotted my Nep

    Sarracenia is my go-to for plants and supplies. They take great care in packing every order, and the quality is always top notch. I got a 6in pot for repotting my Nepenthes St Gaya. The sphagnum moss rehydrated beautifully- each strand was long and fluffy, I only came across like six stems in the entire bag, and there was so much left over, enough for two of my other 3in pots!

    My huge nepenthes Ventrata was needing a new durable hanging basket and a fresh change of soil and this was just perfect for that at such an affordable price! Even got some 3inch pots for my seedlings plants! Now they’re growing in so well and healthy! Thank you for amazing products!

    I love these plants they survived I'm glad my first sundew and first Sarracenia was from them. they look like happy plants I've been moving them into a brighter window each week because shipping causes a lot of stress, hope to put them outside one day
