Type of Plant: Tropical butterwort for windowsill growing.
Native Habitat: Mountains of Mexico.
Sunlight: Very bright filtered sun to dappled sun.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less). Set in water to keep the soil wet.
Soil: One part peat moss and two parts perlite. No garden soil, compost, or fertilizer.
Temperatures: Prefers mild temperatures but always protect from frost.
Winter Rest: With the natural changes in daylight hours, butterworts will drop their large succulent leaves and form a tight rosette of succulent-like leaves. After 2-3 months of rest, plants will produce their large leaves again. Water less frequently during this period.
