Nepenthes Song of Melancholy (Clone B)

This plant was part of a wild breeding at Leilani Nepenthes Nursery. The actual parentage is unknown, though it is suspected to be Nepenthes boschiana x (spectabilis x veitchii). When we received the first batch from LNN, the hybrid had a wide range of colors and patterns. We kept two particular plants for our collection, a red form and an orange form. The orange form has dark red mottling against a yellow-orange background. The peristome is wide with red and red-orange stripes. The leaves are leathery. Overall, the plant grows strongly and is tolerant of wide temperature swings.

General Care
Type of Plant: Tropical pitcher plant for windowsill growing.
Native Habitat: Rainforests of Southeast Asia.
Sunlight: Very bright filtered sunlight.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less). Allow water to drain through.
Soil: Equal parts dried sphagnum moss and perlite. No garden soil, compost, or fertilizer.
Temperatures: Above 70°F during the day. Nighttime drop into the 60s is recommended but not necessary. Always protect from frost.
