Nepenthes Buttons

We acquired Buttons from Sam Estes of Leilani Nepenthes Nursery. We were originally concerned how it would perform as a houseplant since it is a complex hybrid involving N. thorelii, N. mirabilis, and N. maxima. Hybrids with mirabilis haven't always grown well in our highland greenhouse. However, we were pleasantly surprised that it adapted very well to our growing conditions! During spring and summer, this plant produces very lovely pitchers with subtle markings and colors. If you want a break from loud, attention-grabbing hybrid, Buttons might be one that will show you how sublime Nepenthes can be.

Type of Plant: Tropical pitcher plant for indoor growing.
Pitcher Size: Up to 4 inches.
Sunlight: Bright filtered to partial sun.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts dried sphagnum moss and perlite only.
Temperatures: Above 70°F during the day; 55°-70°F during the night. Always protect from frost.
