While this plant can get to impressive size, leaves growing 12-16 inches that will wrap around captured insects, it can be a bit of an enigma for some growers. The secret is growing it like a mountainous species - lots of sun but mild temperatures. A nighttime drop below 65°F is essential for optimal growth. Best for the experienced grower.

Plants You Receive

Medium-sized plants are shipped in 4-inch pots.  All plants are acclimated for windowsill growing.  Full maturity within 1-2 years.

General Care

Type of Plant: Tropical sundew for windowsill growing.
Native Habitat: Coastal mountains of South Africa.
Sunlight: Full to partial sun but avoid hot conditions.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).  Set in water to keep the soil wet.
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite.  No garden soil, compost, or fertilizer.
Temperatures: Appreciates cool temperatures but always protect from frost.

    Plant was very well packaged and came looking great! All the leaves were still covered in dew. In the few weeks since I've had the plant it has almost doubled in height! I would definitely order from Sarracenia Northwest again!

    Finally got my first King sundew. I've had the plant for over a month. I has grown over 4 new leaves during the period. This is due to the fact that the plant material sent by SNW is top notch.
