This variety of flytrap produces upright yellow traps. The mouths of the traps have a splash of reddish orange. It grows very vigorously and sends up multiple traps at once. It also produces larger than normal traps when it matures, up to 1 1/2 inches. Because of the long petioles, the leaves flop over due to the weight of the large traps. This is probably why it was called King Henry!

This batch are divisions from a 10-year old colony that we divided in spring. You can watch us divide the colony on our YouTube channel.

Posted by Corrine Murphy on December 14, 2014

The king was packed beautifully, and arrived perfect condition. It is out with my other plants but I think it doesn't like the change to much because the color changed I bit, the green almost appeared frost bit after only a few days. I will not worry until next spring.

This flytrap arrived in excellent condition. It has grown many new traps which catch bugs as soon as they open. The plant seems very happy and is thriving. Very pleased with this plant.

When I was a kid I had a Flytrap and never had any luck with it. It die by the third week...Glad I got the First Video that GrowCarnivorousplants.com offers because I was just doing all wrong. This plant are easy to grow. I love them they been growing great and having their fill of bugs that just come right to them...waiting for next year to see how big they will be after dormancy.

    Aggressive grower

Because "Vigorous" just isn't adequate... after a re-pot, I expected a couple of weeks of "not much". Boy was I wrong! It's nothing to see 4 to 7 new leaves coming up from the peaty depths on these guys. Very hearty appetite as well. Seems that when a new trap opens, it's sealed shut the next day with a new delicacy grasped within it's lips! King Henry was said to be a man of voracious appetite. A perfect name for this Dionaea.

    Awesome plants

Posted by Timothy Snead on July 27, 2014

My King Henry Flytrap arrived shortly after I placed my order. The plant was very healthy looking with 4 large traps. Some were closed because they had trapped some insects while still at the plant nursery. My plant is doing exceptionally well! It has many new traps .Just be sure to use either distilled water or rainwater. Tap water will NOT WORK!! I strongly recommend ordering from this company! You will be happy with your plants!

    Arrived in excellent condition.

Posted by CK on July 24, 2014

Packaging was excellent and it arrived in excellent shape with traps already open. After one month it has adapted well and is flourishing. Smaller then the plants I used to get from Northrop's 35+ years ago but times change... lol. I used to grow VFTs (as well as many sundews and pitchers) a long time ago when I lived in North Carolina so I had to get one even though I live in Hawaii now. I may even order one more and if I can keep them dormant in the fridge for the winter, I will try to branch out.
